How to ‘CHEAT’ in Magic, hua hua hua ….. ^^
Before I begin, let me ask you something very fundamental, but I want you to be honest for only this one question. Concentrate for 30 second and read the question slowly. The question is, by clicking this link; it means you want to be a cheater, don’t you? Hua hua hua.. ^^
This is how,
1. Tapping wrong mana to cast and untapping mana not in untap phase
How:
You should cast 2 spells simultaneously and tapping some lands at once, example one spell cost GU, the other is GGW, but you only got 2 forests, you got screw, any help? Yes, you tap 2 forests 1 island 2 plains at once and lay down those cards on the table at once. You should do it quickly and make sure your victim doesn’t realize your tapped lands (keep it as low as possible and keep your spell at upper part), make sure your victim attention is on his own cards. It also goes with untapping mana, first you should point something (victim’s card) and ask about anything unnecessary while your left hand (preferly elbow) ‘accidently’ untapping one or two land, the second way is to use verbal trick, you talk to him while do the trick. The victim attraction must be focused on your talking and your pointing hand, no worries. It works. Practice makes better for each try.
Counter:
Always pay attention what your opponent did, you may look at your cards but give your sight also to your opponent. Always check every card he casts, is it already fixed with his mana? Has he tapped the right mana sources? Make sure you examine his gesture; usually his gesture is not normal if he want to cheat you. If you are doubt about it, you can call judge for your final action; I bet the ‘law upholder’ will be willing to help you. But sure, always pay attention for every action he did.
Cast Assault Zeppelid (2GU) and Azorius First Wing (WU) at once with right mana.. yeah right…
2. Targeting illegal target and failed to meet the requirement of certain cards
How:
If you want to target something illegal, make sure those cards cover each other. For example putting Shadow Lance (Guildpact) on Hand of Cruelty (Savior of Kamigawa), you put Hand of Cruelty at bottom and Shadow Lance above it covering the text and making a L-shape card. You victim will only see the picture of Hand of Cruelty, but not the text.
If you want to deal with requirement of certain cards, it’s better using a less common-used card, here for example cast Drekavac (Dissension) and discard your creature card, and if your opponent realize that, just say the Magic word “sorry”, take back your discard card and discard the right one from your hand, pretend it’s just a silly mistake.
Guys, you can also do this trick, use sorcery as an instant and pretend nothing wrong happen, example cast Befoul (7th Ed) during end of your opponent’s turn and please remember do this without any doubt and with a clear voice, sure it really works and it happened before (believe me!)
Those are three examples which I mentioned and you can created any else with a huge variation of cards. My advise is don’t use a famous card like Char (Ravnica) and trying to forget deduce 2 damage to yourself. It’s not a good cheating, this is a foolish cheating, they will know that you are cheating, remember that. You can experiment with other cards as well, and remember one thing this method works best in any prerelease event, where cards are new and mistakes are everywhere, take advantage of it.
Counter:
Every time your opponent cast something, always double checked. If the text is not clear enough, take the card and read it carefully. If you have played Magic quite long, I believe you have already understood most of the cards. If one mistake is being made, tell your opponent and let it be at the first time, and be cautious for further action. If he is really ridiculous or making too many mistakes, you know who you should call. …Judge!

3. Drawing extra cards and less cards, keeping extra cards in hands
How:
If you are tricky enough, you can use a long sleeve to manipulate and hiding cards or you can just draw more than one card at once without being noticed. I suggest you do at the mid-game not early game, why? Because it will be harder to detect, while in the early game your opponent can just compares all the cards in your hand and graveyard with his. Example: use Telling Time (Guildpact) take 3 cards, put one to the bottom, put one to your hand, put one to the top of library, and then draw (use this not in your end turn), if you realize you just draw extra cards, cool.. huh? Another way is keep some bomb cards (two is recommended not more) between your thigh and in the mid game, lower your hand below the table and swap the cards, and see that you can turn the tide of the game.
You can also use bounce land example Rakdos Carnarium (Dissension) at the second turn without cast anything, if you count, your hand will be 8 not 7 and just let it be. Usually your opponent won’t realize it
Counter :
Always ask your opponent to put their hands on the table, and make sure all part of his body doesn’t cover any part of cards. Check his hands every now and then and check his action when playing any card. Judge couldn’t help with this sometimes, this is a smooth cheating which hard to detect. If you feel sometimes suspicious tell you opponent to play neatly, sometimes an explicit action is required if your opponent is still insist doing cheating. This is a real story which happened on Vic, he hit the table so hard, caught his opponent cheating in GPT Taiwan next the Judge sit with them and watch the game till end. I think sometimes this harsh action should be done to punish the cheater.
